Living in Fervent Expectation

Who is Jesus to You

“Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ Hosanna in the highest!” And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?” So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”” Matthew‬ ‭21:9-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬

In this section of scripture we see Jesus entering into Jerusalem to the praise of the multitudes. He has taught them and preached to them about the Kingdom of God, He healed all manners of sickness and disease, cast out demons and set people free, fed them miraculously, and even raised the dead back to life. But, when asked who this man is, observe their answer. This Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth. They said the  prophet, not the Son of God, not the Son of David, not the Messiah, not God in the flesh. They did not recognize who He really was, the Savior of the world. Who is He to you?

How do you see Jesus? Is He just a good man, a prophet, or someone that provides you with a good example of how to live? Does your Jesus lie in a manger or in the arms of His earthly mother and is no more significant than her or a Christmas story? When you consider Him, is He still on the cross, a person who gave his life for God? Is He what your parents may have mentioned  or you heard about in a catechism or bible school class but have not thought about since? Is He your fire insurance policy that makes sure you do not go to hell when you die, and you just live your life for yourself with no regard for Him and His desires? Or is He the Savior of the world, your Messiah, the Son of God, part of the Godhead with the Holy Spirit and the Father, who was born of a virgin, lived a perfect sinless life, willing sacrificed Himself by dying a horrible death on a cross to receive the punishment for all sin – for all men – for all time, was raised from the dead by the power of God the Father, and sits on His throne in heaven at the right hand of the Father?

Who is He to you? If He is anything but your Messiah, your Savior, pray and ask God to open your eyes and heart to the truth of who is this Jesus. Jesus said that He is the only way to the Father. There is no other way. That statement is not a closed or narrow minded view, it is the absolute truth.  God Himself made that statement.  My friend, change the way you think and turn to God. Receive the free gift offered by God’s mercy and grace that your sins would be washed away by the sacrificial blood of Jesus as you just believe and ask for that forgiveness. Then place the rest of your life in the hands of Jesus by confessing that He is going to be your Lord.  Jesus said that if you confess Him before man, He will confess you before the Father. Then you can receive all the benefits as a child of God, a child of the King. You will inherit all the goodness God has for you through His grace as you believe, faith.

The alternative or not turning to God is not what God wants for you. For this reason, He sent His Son Jesus, that you would not be separated from Him forever. If you think that this life has terrible moments or is absolutely horrible now, it cannot compare to the torment that those who refuse the merciful free gift of salvation in Jesus will experience for eternity. Eternity is forever my friend and I do not want anyone to spend it in hell. Hell was made for Satan and his demons, not us. I plead with you to turn to God and receive Jesus into your life just by asking.
