Matthew 10:32-33 ““Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.” But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.”
This scripture out of Matthew is often taught incorrectly. What I have thought, heard taught, and may have taught myself is that if we have the opportunity to talk about Jesus and fail to do so, we have denied Jesus and He will deny us before the Father. This is not true. Consider 1Tim 2:5-6 which states that Jesus is the mediator between us and God, and that He paid the ransom for all. If you are a believer and born-again, then you have confessed Jesus before men resulting in your salvation. To think that Jesus would deny you before the Father would negate all that He has done on the Cross for all mankind and received by all those who have believed and confessed Jesus as the risen from the dead Savior (Rom 10:9).Since failing to do what God is directing us to do is sin (denying Him), then the interpretation of this scripture, that I am saying is incorrect, would completely negate the true meaning of Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross. It would destroy the meaning of grace, unmerited favor, and the good news of the gospel.
What this scripture is saying is that if you refuse Jesus as your Savior, then there is no other way to be forgiven and become a child of God. What Jesus did by His sacrifice is to open the way to the Father who loves all and wants to have a relationship with everyone. Jesus says that He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). When we receive this free gift of eternal life by accepting Jesus as our sacrifice to remove our sin, we become a child of God instead of just His creation. Thereby, receiving a guarantee of spending eternity with Him, going to heaven, when we leave this earth.
It was sin that separated us from God. It all started with Adam and this separation continues to this day for those not accepting the saving work of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. My friend, if you are not born-again by turning away from your current lifestyle, turning to God, and giving you life to Him by accepting the forgiveness and removal of all sin through the sacrifice of Jesus, do it right now. Just ask God to forgive you of all the mistakes in your life, and ask Jesus to come and live in you to help you live for Him. You will be changed on the inside and you will become a child of God who is guaranteed eternal life with the Father who loves you very much.
